Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit Promotes Cooperation in Smart Machinery

2018-03-14
With the Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit as a bridge, the 2018 Cross-Strait Intelligent Equipment Manufacturing Forum will be held in Zhengzhou, mainland China, from April 15-18. The forum is spearheaded by the Taiwan Machinery Industry Association and the China Machine Tool & Tool Builders' Association. In response to Made in China 2025, the machinery industries on both sides of the strait will seek cooperation opportunities for the first time on topics related to intelligent manufacturing equipment and applications, intelligent robots and sensor applications, and software and tool platform applications.
Ko Pa-hsi, chairman of the Taiwan Machinery Industry Association, pointed out that last year, the output value of Taiwan's machinery industry exceeded NT$1 trillion for the first time, reaching NT$1.1 trillion, officially joining the ranks of trillion-dollar industries. The key lies in the fact that machinery manufacturers are competing to invest in research and development and develop smart machinery in Taiwan.
With no issues regarding orders for the second quarter across the machinery industry, he is confident that Taiwan's machinery industry output and export value will grow by 5%-10% this year compared to last year. Smart machinery and smart manufacturing are the two engines that will drive Taiwan's machinery industry output value toward NT$2 trillion in the future.
Ko Pa-hsi stated that the Chinese government is fully promoting Made in China 2025. Twenty years ago, China proposed to surpass Germany and catch up with Japan in high-speed rail. Twenty years later, China has built tens of thousands of kilometers of high-speed rail, surpassing Japan and Germany in terms of achievements. China has also surpassed Japan and Germany in areas such as Alipay and e-commerce. Once the Chinese government fully implements Made in China 2025, private enterprises will follow the government's policies and should not be underestimated.
Ko Pa-hsi pointed out that this event was facilitated by the Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit, and the Machinery Industry Association issued a notice inviting member manufacturers to participate in the "Cross-Strait Intelligent Equipment Manufacturing Zhengzhou Forum" to be held in Zhengzhou, mainland China from April 16th to 18th. In addition to discussing cooperation opportunities between machinery companies on both sides of the strait on issues related to intelligent machinery, they also conducted on-site inspections of Foxconn's industrial park in Zhengzhou, Henan, and Youjia Group's investment in Youjia Industrial Park.
